Molly Hayes sat down on the grass, the sun beating down nicely onto her back. The weather was great, everything was quiet…. A perfect afternoon. She could just stay sitting out back for the rest of the afternoon – there wasn’t any training exercises planned for the rest of the day, and the rest of her group of Runaways were about the mansion in various places. They too were taking advantage of the rare moment of peace.
Though at first Molly hadn’t been keen on the idea of going to Xavier’s and helping out with things, or just going there if she needed a place to go, she was now certain it was a good plan. Her place would always be with the Runaways, but it was alright to have a second home, wasn’t it?
She adjusted the hat on her head – this one looked rather like a sheep, with big doeful eyes. In the heat it was probably better if she took the hat off but Molly Hayes didn’t do that. She was still just as keen on her hats as she was when she had first ran away from her previous life at the tender age of eleven. …And besides, Molly’s hair was now rather tangled. She wasn’t about to show that off.
A crash from inside the house made her tilt her head and glance in the direction of the mansion. Should she investigate? Perhaps. But no doubt there were people in the mansion who would be better at handling whatever it was that was going on. But, then again, if she headed inside then perhaps she could grab a bite to eat… Maybe some fudge. “Yum, yum.” Molly sighed, and turned her head back around. Nah. She’d stay outside and relax. She’d grab some fudge later.
After about five minutes of relaxing in the sun, Molly Hayes, or Bruiser the mutant with super-strength, invulnerability and a hint of telepathy, was bored. Actually, she was Bored with a capital B.
Rubbing the back of her neck, Molly then let herself collapse backwards, so she was now laying flat out on the ground. Rolling onto her stomach, she crossed her arms and rested her chin on them. What to do? She didn’t want to do something too strenuous. But at the same time Mol had never been someone able to just sit still and do nothing. Relax. Maybe she could sneak into the rec room and play a few video games? But the students of Xacier’s would more than likely have gotten there first…
If she knew where Tommy was she could always have gone to bug and hang out with him, if he wasn’t being moody and wanted to see her. But she wasn’t sure where exactly he was. Off with the Avengers. Avenging things, or whatever.
Then there was Chase, who even now she could rely on to go off and watch movies together, play video games (on a good day) or just to have a laugh with. But even he needed to relax sometimes, and relax away from Molly.
She was just going to have to struggle through by herself. Joy of joys.
