KAYLEE JANE HARRIS
Name: Kaylee Jane Harris
Age: 25
Gender: Female
~~~~~
Codename: Network (after her aunt)
Ability:
Cyberpathy: Kaylee can mentally communicate with and then control all forms of machinery. This lets her access computer files and manipulate programming to suit her needs.
She does this by psionically ‘reading’ the computers electronic impulses, and then converts her thoughts into the same electronic impulses which are mentally transmitted to the computer (or other electronic device).
Her ability only works with electronic machinery – machinery such as guns and non-electric cars are out. She also needs to have the time to communicate with the machines. The process can be delicate and sometimes if she sends the wrong thoughts things can go wrong.
Her power lets her overcome passwords and codes on computer databases, meaning she can easily find out hidden information.
Kaylee is also skilled in fighting fist-to-fist and with weapons having grown up with the X-Men and trained with them. She can hold her own in a fight, but she isn’t front line soldier material. She also prefers not to fight, and to stay in the background doing what she can with her ability to help the fighting.
Group: X-Men
~~~~~
Status: Good
Occupation:
Teacher at the Xavier Mansion, teaches ‘Technology 101’
Physical Description:
Kaylee is of average height for her age. She is lean built, and moderately athletic – though she isn’t interested in sports at all, she had a rough training exercise schedule when attending Xavier’s as a student. She has light green eyes, and long blonde hair that frames her face.
She likes to wear stylish clothes, but never has much money to buy the prettier things that she is after. Usually she goes with jeans or a skirt, and a tank top or shirt. And she usually buys her things at sales – not that she’d ever tell anyone that.
Personality:
Kaylee has a bubbly personality and easily fits into conversation and friend groups everywhere. She’s a bit of a babbler, never fully making her mind up about the point of what she’s saying until she’s halfway through a sentence. Her use of pop-culture quotes, and ideas from old movies and tv shows sometimes dubs her as odd, but she’s just never going to change.
Though she does like to chat a lot, there’s a good brain in her, and she knows what she’s doing. She’s a good teacher – knowing when to let the kids have some freedom and when to draw in on the leash. Kaylee – though she doesn’t look, and rarely sounds it – is rather intelligent. She’s always been a quick learner and usually picks up on things straight away.

Parents:
Jessica Vale – Preview (depowered)
John Harris
Siblings:
Younger brother
History:
Kaylee is the eldest child of Jessica and John. She came as something of a shock to her parents, who weren’t expecting or had ever planned on having kids (at least at that moment in time they weren’t). Her family was loving, but the relationships were sometimes strained. Her mother was one of the mutants who had been de-powered after M day, and her powers had not returned. Jessica’s husband knew of this, and as he had never been on any side regarding mutants this was fine with him – but Jessica always remembered how it had been having a power and being part of the X-Men, had her dreams occasionally caused tension in the house.
Despite this, Kaylee was surrounded by love and then when her younger brother appeared seven years after Kaylee, he was gladly welcomed into the family as well. Even at the young age of seven, Kaylee had always been interested in technology. She was able to do things on the computer that her parents were astounded – of course, overall her ability at the time wasn’t anything special, just unusual for a child her age.
It was when she was eleven that her talents were first shown. One day she worked out that she could do things on her laptop at home without even touching the mouse. So she’d doodle, or keep her hands by her side whilst working and playing. Eventually, her mother saw her doing this one day. The fact that her daughter was a mutant was a huge shock to her. After being de-powered she hadn’t thought it was even possible, and her husband wasn’t a mutant either. But the X gene had appeared in Kaylee – and Jessica used her tentative links with the X-Men to send her to Xaviers to be taught.
There she was first part of the Alpha Squadron where she learnt that her aunt, Sarah, had also had her ability of technopathy. Graduating from the younger group she went on to take her deceased aunt’s codename of Network.
After graduating the school with good degrees, Kaylee decided to stay on at the school and be part of the background X-Men.
